Jose Mourinho was delighted to have won the Europa League final with Manchester United against Ajax in Stockholm on Wednesday night.Paul Pogba scored the opening goal of the game in the first-half and Henrikh Mkhitaryan closed the game out as the players put in a dominating performance against the Dutch side.
The Portuguese boss has won every continental final he’s ever played and has ensured United have become just one of five clubs, including Juventus, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and indeed Ajax, to win every historic European trophy.
Speaking after the game, Mourinho was happy to see everyone at the club celebrating the win.
“It’s the end of a very difficult season, but I think it’s been very good,” he told BT Sport.
“We prefer this way to finishing fourth because now we’ve won a title that closes the lot for Man United, we’re very happy because we have had to fight hard since the start as we knew we could win the Europa League.
“We tried to exploit their weaknesses and we deserve the victory, it’s all been worth it after all the games and I’m happy to see the boys with the crutches celebrating.”
The side have won the Community Shield, EFL Cup and the Europa League, qualifying for the Champions League once again and it’s a massively successful campaign even though the Premier League performances have not been up to expectations.
United have clinched another piece of silverware after a very difficult season and it’ll be a massive boost for the players moving forward.
